Fight results in drug arrest
A Murfreesboro resident has been arrested on drug charges in Howard County. Sheriff Bryan McJunkins said deputies responded to a call regarding a fight at the Eagles Lodge parking lot on Highway 27 North. When deputies arrived, they found 37 year old David Compton had been injured. Witnesses told deputies that Compton came to the bar and was causing trouble with bartender by making threats. It was also reported to authorities that Compton was suppose to be in possession of a gun in his vehicles. Deputies said they searched the vehicle and did not find a weapon. However, Sheriff McJunkins said his personnel did find a substance believed to be methamphetamine inside the car, along with other drug paraphernalia.
Compton was arrested and transported to jail after being released from the emergency room for treatment of injuries.
The sheriff said deputies are continuing their investigation into the alleged terroristic threatening.
