Formal charges filed against Glenwood mayor

Formal charges were filed Monday in Pike County Circuit Court against the mayor of Glenwood.  72 year old Billy T. Smith is charged with felony counts that include Theft of Property and Abuse of Office.   The Arkansas Attorney General’s office has been conducting a several month long investigation after it was reported that Mayor Smith used city property, in the form of asphalt millings from a Highway 70 resurfacing project, and placed the asphalt on his residential driveway and the residential driveway of his son in law last year.

Smith is expected in court April 4th.
