Foster Parent Shares Insights on Challenges and Rewards in Part Two of Our Interview Series
In part two of our ongoing segment of the WATCH Program, KMTB and KNAS had the opportunity to speak with Susie Berruquin, a longtime foster parent, to gain a deeper speak understanding of the challenges and rewards of fostering children. Berruquin opened up about what she loves most about being a foster parent.
Berruquin also shared some sobering statistics about the number of children currently in foster care in the state of Arkansas, highlighting the critical need for more families to step forward and provide care. She discussed the biggest challenges she faces as a foster parent, including dealing with trauma, navigating the complex system, and managing the emotional ups and downs .
As the interview concluded, Berruquin shared some of her fondest memories from her time as a foster parent, reflecting on the joy of seeing children find stability and build new futures.
