Freddie Horne Elected to Historic Washington Foundation Board

Longtime community member Freddie Horne of Nashville has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Historic Washington Foundation.
The election took place during the foundation’s quarterly meeting on Friday May 30th. Horne will serve as chair of the organization’s Grant Writing Committee.
On Monday, we spoke with Horne about joining another organization dedicated to preserving local and state history.
Horne brings a lengthy record of public service to the foundation. He currently serves as President of the Howard County Historical Society and as a Nashville City Alderman. He is also an emeritus Nashville Parks Commissioner and a former principal and teacher in the Nashville School District.
In addition to his interest in history, Horne says he has spent considerable time at Historic Washington State Park through his involvement in local music. He noted that his band has performed at several events held at the park over the years.
The Historic Washington Foundation, formerly known as the Pioneer Washington Restoration Foundation, is Arkansas’ oldest preservation organization. Founded in 1958, the nonprofit maintains eight historic properties within Historic Washington State Park and supports efforts to keep those sites open and accessible to visitors. The foundation is governed by a volunteer board of directors and employs a skilled craftsman to assist with maintenance and preservation projects.
