Glenwood fisherman catches more than he bargained for
A Glenwood man has been arrested on drugs and weapons charges. 56 year old Danny Hamilton was arrested earlier this month while bank fishing on Lake Greeson. Reports say an officer with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission was conducting checks on fishing licenses and when the officer approached Hamilton, the officer said he could detect the smell of burned marijuana. Hamilton said he had smoked some earlier and pointed out the remains in his tool box. Authorities say there was also a tobacco bag on the ground beside Hamilton, who admitted to owning the bag. Officers say the bag contained additional marijuana and rolling papers. A search of Hamilton’s truck for additional drugs was also conducted. While the search didn’t lead to any additional drugs, officers say they recovered a loaded Ruger rifle. A background check on Hamilton revealed he was a convicted felon.
Hamilton has been charged with a felony count of Possession of a firearm by Certain Persons and a misdemeanor charge of possessing a controlled substance.
