Glenwood man arrested for fleeing
On April 23rd at approximately 3pm Pike County Deputy Alwin Smith was traveling North on highway 27. According to the affidavit Smith met a gray Hyundai car traveling South at excessive speeds of 70 miles per hour. Deputy Smith then attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle but as Smith was attempting to catch up with the vehicle the gray car continued to pick up speed. Smith reportedly had to turn on his emergency lights and siren along with advising the Murfreesboro City Officers and dispatch that the car was failing to pull over.
It was reported that Murfreesboro City Officer Mackenzie Vermillion intercepted the vehicle on 27 North in the area of the entrance of Samantha’s Timber. The driver eventually stopped on the bridge on east 13th street. Once the vehicle stopped officers reportedly approached the driver’s side. The driver was identified as 24 year old Jimmy Don Davis Jr of Glenwood. Officers then searched Davis for weapons. As officers were searching for Davis’s driver’s license, Vermillion discovered a folded-up dollar bill inside the wallet that had a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine inside of it. Officers also located an AR style rifle in the back seat with a 30-round clip laying beside it. Then Davis allegedly told officers that he had a pistol in the pouch of the driver’s seat.
It was also reported that officers confiscated a plastic container inside the console of the car that contained a green leafy substance that was believed to be marijuana, a marijuana grinder, and marijuana in a backpack car along with a 22-revolver pistol inside the trunk. Davis was arrested and transported to the Pike County Jail. Davis was charged with possession of a controlled substance, fleeing, possession of drug paraphernalia, and speeding over 15 mph.
