Glenwood man arrested for possessing a firearm

On February 14th at approximately 10:44pm, Arkansas State Trooper Seth Smedley observed a pickup with a flatbed trailer in tow that had defective trailer lights. It was reported that Smedley conducted a traffic stop on this vehicle near N Clay Street. As Trooper Smedley made contact with the driver, he noticed a scoped rifle positioned against the middle seat, on the passenger side of the transmission hump, with the barrel pointed towards the floorboard of the pickup. Smedley reported that he also noticed several empty beer cans along with a case of beer.

The driver was identified as 40 year old Ty Tolbert of Glenwood and the passenger was identified as 63 year old Keith M Wilson.

According to the affidavit, an ACIC check showed that Tolbert had active warrants originating out of Clark and Montgomery Counties, a suspended driver’s license along with a felony conviction on 08/13/2012. Smedley reportedly had an ACIC check on Wilson and his history showed a felony conviction on 07/10/1987. It was reported that Smedley confirmed Tolbert’s and Wilson’s felony conviction through Pike County Dispatch and both were put into handcuffs and placed in separate patrol units. Tolbert was transported to the Amity Police Department to meet with Clark County Sheriff’s Office, who later transported him to Clark County Jail. Pike County Deputy Obie Laurent transported Wilson to the Pike County Sheriff’s Office for booking.

Troop K Dispatch advised Smedley that the firearm was clear and will be entered into Troop K evidence vault. Tolbert was charged with possessing firearms by certain persons, driving on suspended license, and defective improper tail lamps and reflectors.
