Govenor Sanders discuss tax cuts and other policies
Recently, KMTB and KNAS had the chance to interview Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders about the tax cuts and other policies she enacted following a special session of the Arkansas General Assembly on Wednesday.
Governor Sanders elaborated on the tax cuts and additional components of this legislation, which aims to increase Arkansans’ disposable income by lowering their tax load.
In the interview, Governor Sanders explained that the reduction in the corporate tax rate is intended to enhance Arkansas’s attractiveness for external investments and the growth of current in-state businesses. She pointed out that the state’s robust fiscal health, marked by low unemployment and consistent job growth, indicates the success of her economic strategies.
Additionally, Governor Sanders discussed her principal educational initiative, the LEARNS Act, which was passed into law last year. She emphasized the rise in teacher salaries and the act’s objective to advance literacy across the state.
The special session concluded on Wednesday with a negotiated budget agreement for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. The commission had been without a budget for the forthcoming fiscal year after the Legislature’s adjournment last month, which was due to some House members’ objections over the AGFC director’s maximum salary. The newly agreed-upon measure reduces the director’s maximum salary and requires legislative consent for any pay increases exceeding five percent.
