HC Quorum Court votes to build 6 new hangers at airport

Preliminary plans are underway to increase the number of airplane hangers at the Howard County Airport.  At Monday’s quorum court meeting, j.p.’s heard from an engineering and consulting company, with two proposals presented.  The preferred option given will lead to construction of six additional hangers that would be built across from the existing hangers.

The project is expected to cost Howard County approximately $121,000 dollars.  The remaining portion, of approximately $512,000 dollars, will be paid with grant funding.

By constructing additional hangers, the airport is hoping to have at least 10 planes housed there, which is the minimum threshold to receive upwards of $150,000 dollars in federal money on an annual basis.
