Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office Promotes Six Deputies to Senior Deputy Rank

The Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office has announced the promotion of six deputies to the rank of Senior Deputy Sheriff, recognizing their years of service, professionalism, and dedication to the community.

The newly promoted Senior Deputies are:

  • Senior Deputy Jacob Wayne – 5 years of service
  • Senior Deputy Kristen Evans – 6 years of service
  • Senior Deputy Marla Gullion – 17 years of service
  • Senior Deputy Lupe Becerra – 7 years of service
  • Senior Deputy Marcia Hardeman, Courthouse Security Division – 14 years of service
  • Senior Deputy Jimmy Smith, Courthouse Security Division – 15 years of service

According to the Sheriff’s Office, promotion to Senior Deputy is a significant milestone. To qualify, candidates must have a minimum of five years of continuous service, hold valid Arkansas law enforcement certification, maintain strong performance evaluations, complete required annual training, and demonstrate professionalism and sound decision-making. Deputies must also have a clean disciplinary record for the previous 24 months and receive recommendations from supervisors and command staff before final approval by the Sheriff.

The Sheriff’s Office noted that each of the newly promoted deputies not only met these standards but has consistently shown leadership and commitment in their daily duties.

Sheriff James A. Singleton praised the deputies for their achievement, stating:

“These deputies have earned this promotion through years of hard work, integrity, and a commitment to serving the people of Hempstead County. Their professionalism and dedication strengthen our office and enhance public safety. I am proud of each of them for achieving this milestone and grateful for their continued service to our community.”
