Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office warns residents about scam

The Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office has received calls from the public in reference to someone identifying themselves as a Sergeant with the Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office advising them that they have missed appearing for JURY Duty and that a warrant has been issued for their arrest. And request that they pay a certain amount to keep from going to jail. The caller tells them that they need to go to Walmart and purchase an amazon or pre-paid visa and send the numbers to them.
PLEASE DO NOT FALL VICTIM TO THIS SCAM, IF YOU RECEIVE A CALL LIKE THIS JUST HANG UP.
