Hempstead Records First COVID-19 Related Death

Hempstead County has reported its first death related to COVID-19.

Officials say a woman in the 65 and above age category died Wednesday in a Hope Hospital.

That was the first death in southwest Arkansas linked to the virus.

The Arkansas Department of Health says Howard County has added another case, bringing the total to six so far. Two people are listed as recovering in the county with 25 negative test results.

The higher populated areas around Texarkana and Hot Springs have the most cases of COVID-19 in the region.
