High football playoffs tonight; Nashville hosts Warren

Nashville and Warren meet in the quarterfinals of the 4A high school football playoffs tonight at Scrapper Stadium. Tonight’s contest will be the first time the teams have met since 2015. The Scrappers have won the last four meetings between the schools, including the one point, double overtime victory, in the 2006 state championship game. Since both teams focus heavily on the running game, Scrappers Head Coach Mike Volarvich says offensive and defensive line play will likely determine the outcome of tonight’s contest.

Kickoff from Scrapper Stadium will be at 7 o’clock. Tickets remain available for online purchase through the Nashville School District’s website, Facebook page, or Scrappers athletic Twitter page.

Following last week’s 4A playoff games, Nashville is the only member remaining from Conference 7-4A. The winner of tonight’s Nashville/Warren game will face the winner of Rivercrest/Crossett in next week’s semifinal round. The top half of tonight’s 4A playoff bracket has Shiloh Christian hosting Dumas and Ozark travels to Stuttgart.

Not only is Nashville the only 74A playoff team remaining, but one of just four teams left in this section of the state in any bracket. In class 3A, Prescott will host McGehee and Centerpoint travels to Glen Rose. The only other southwest Arkansas football still playing tonight will be the Gurdon Go-Devils, where they host the Fordyce Redbugs, ranked as the top 2A team in the state.
