Historical Society Collecting Items for Old Fire Station and Bus Station

The Howard County Historical Society continues to collect memorabilia items for the old fire station and bus station restoration projects. President Freddie Horne says all of the county fire departments are invited to donate photos and other items to be displayed in the building, located on Sypert Street in Nashville. Board Member Allen Rhodes says a good collection of old gear, photos, and a fire truck has been donated by the Nashville Fire Department.

Rhodes has also donated an original Trailways Bus Station sign, which was hung on Wednesday (October 16).

An open house event is planned to be held in December, according to Freddie Horne. The December 1st event will coincide with the organization’s “Oldtime Christmas in Nashville” at the EA Williams Chapel and Museum. Santa will also be available for photos at the Lyons Center (former city hall). The old fire station and former bus station will be available to tour.

If you have questions or would like to make an item or monetary donation to the Howard County Historical Society, a not for profit organization, contact Horne at 870-451-4288.
