HMH host reception to honor and celebrate Cancer survivors

Wednesday Dr. Timothy Webb, APRN Virginia Laliberte, and the staff of the Genesis Cancer and Blood Institute held a reception to Honor and Celebrate Cancer Survivors at Howard Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Webb said that they started the clinic with other physicians. Webb added that Dr. Robert Muldoon was one of the first to come to the Nashville location and they now have 11 sites across the state of Arkansas.

Webb said he considers survivors to include more than just a person with cancer. He said it includes the caretakers with them along with their families and it’s just a huge commitment.

Helen Smith who is a native of Mineral Springs, attended the reception and was also one of the ones honored. Smith is a breast cancer survivor twice and is also under the care of Dr. Webb and his staff.

Smith shared that her brother died several years ago of breast cancer which is one of the reasons why she takes getting checkups so seriously. She concluded by informing the women and men in the community to always get their annual checkups and take care of their bodies.
