Holiday Trash Pickup Schedules Announced for Howard and Pike Counties

County officials have announced changes to rural trash pickup schedules for the week of December 22 due to the Christmas holiday in both Howard and Pike counties.

In Howard County, the Monday route will be picked up on its normal day, December 22. The Tuesday route will also be collected on Monday, December 22. Wednesday’s route will be picked up on Tuesday, December 23, while the Thursday route will be collected on Wednesday, December 24. Residents are asked to have bagged residential trash placed curbside by 7 a.m. on the scheduled pickup day.

The Howard County Road and Sanitation Departments will be closed on Christmas Day and Friday, December 26. In addition, the Howard County Courthouse will close at noon on Wednesday, December 24, and reopen for regular business hours on Monday, December 29.

In Pike County, Monday will be a regular pickup day. On Tuesday, trash will be collected on both Tuesday and Wednesday routes for the north end of the county, while the south end will have a regular Tuesday pickup. There will be no trash service on Wednesday or Thursday.

Trash pickup will resume on Friday, with Thursday routes collected on the north end and Wednesday and Thursday routes collected on the south end.

Residents in both counties are encouraged to follow the adjusted schedules closely to ensure timely pickup during the holiday week.
