Mineral Springs School Board Approves Staffing Changes, Accepts Longtime Member’s Resignation at May Meeting
The Mineral Springs School Board recently met for their regular monthly meeting, addressing key personnel updates, cybersecurity plans, and meal service improvements for the 2025-2026 school year.
The meeting began with the re-election of board officers, with President Dixon making a motion to keep all officers in their current roles. The motion passed unanimously, 5-0.
Staffing Updates
Board member Ricky Gamble briefly exited the meeting while the board considered hiring Richard C. Gamble as Band Teacher for the upcoming school year. After a recommendation from Superintendent JonDavid Amerson, the board voted 4-0 to approve the hire.

Vice President Resignation and Replacement
After 20 years of service, Vice President Dorothy Vaughn announced her resignation, effective immediately. The board accepted her resignation with gratitude, and President Dixon thanked her for her longstanding commitment to the district.
At Vaughn’s recommendation, the board unanimously approved the appointment of Sandra Kay Munson to fill her unexpired term. The board also voted to name Ray Hawkins as the new Vice President.
Cybersecurity and Student Services
The board approved a Cybersecurity initiative, following a presentation by Daniel Gentry, which was held in executive session due to the sensitive nature of the topic.
The board also approved the district’s participation in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), which allows all students to receive free breakfast and lunch for the 2025-2026 school year.
Additionally, the board approved a petition to transfer two students from Nashville Primary School to the Mineral Springs School District for the upcoming academic year.
Resignation Accepted
The board formally accepted the resignation of Band Teacher Christopher J. Mannis, who will be leaving the district.
