Hope City Board discusses lease rates at the Hope Municipal Airport
The Hope City Board met on March 5th to discuss several items on their agenda including lease rates at the Hope Municipal Airport.
According to the board packet, the airport lease rates have not been increased since 2001 and the board has never set rental rates for offices on airport property. The proposed increases would be as follows: from $110 to $125 for a single engine plane per month. The proposed rate for the rental of a 2,250 square foot hanger would increase from $150 to $225 and the proposed rental rate for a 4,030 square foot hanger would increase from $300 to $400 per month. It was stated the proposed rate increase would help keep the airport financially sustainable over the long term.
Board members tabled the proposed increases to allow themselves the opportunity to review the proposal and consider other options.
Board members also discussed the possibility of a private entity building a hanger on airport property for their personal use.
Board members were informed the airport now employs one full-time staff person and that the fuel system had been updated.
Board members voted to approve a surplus declaration for a 1981 Ladder Fire Truck that experienced a catastrophic failure last year. Any excess funds received from the sale of the fire truck will be used to purchase a new fire truck.
Park director, Summer Chambers requested the board approve increases to the rental fees for pavilions along with a new rental agreement form.
She stated a fee of $2 per day should be charged for utilities. Chambers stated the City of Nashville charges a $12 fee per hour. She proposed a rental fee of $10 per half day and $20 per full day for pavilion rental and a $100 public event fee. She asked for the HUB fee to be set at $25 per half day and $50 per full day.
After hearing from a local event planner, the board voted to approve the proposed rental rates and form.
