Hope Man Arrested After Alleged Vehicle and Firearm Theft in Howard County

A 35-year-old Hope man is facing multiple felony charges following an investigation into the alleged theft of a vehicle and firearm from a Howard County residence.
According to the affidavit, Deputies responded at approximately 9:30 p.m. on July 20 to a residence in the 3000 block of Highway 70 East after receiving a report of a stolen vehicle and firearm.
During the investigation, deputies learned that the suspect, Thomas Mcie, allegedly became involved in an argument with another resident before leaving the property in a 2004 Honda Odyssey without the owner’s permission.
Investigators also determined that after the suspect left, residents discovered an American Tactical AR-15 rifle missing from a nearby residence. Ammunition was reportedly found scattered throughout the RV where Mcie had been staying with the property owner’s permission.
Authorities entered Mcie’s information into the Arkansas Crime Information Center (ACIC) and National Crime Information Center (NCIC) databases. Investigators also determined that Mcie is a convicted felon, making it illegal for him to possess a firearm under Arkansas law.
Mcie has been charged with:
- Possession of a firearm by certain persons (felon in possession of a firearm)
- Residential burglary
- Theft of a firearm
- Theft of a motor vehicle
The investigation is being conducted by the Howard County Sheriff’s Office.
As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
