Hope Police Department warn citizens about vehicle burglaries

The Hope Police Department would like to take a moment to remind their citizens and visitors to be vigilant about your vehicle security. With summertime upon us vehicle burglaries are on the rise. Here are a couple simple safety tips to help prevent you from being the victim of this type of crime.

  1. Lock your vehicles. Always remember to lock your vehicle, even if you’re just going to be away from your vehicle for a short time.
  2. Remove or hide any valuables and important paperwork from your vehicle. Thieves often target vehicles with visible money, jewelry, purses/wallets, backpacks, firearms, electronics, etc.

The Hope Police Department is investigating a series of vehicle burglaries from this past weekend (June 2 – 4, 2023). The reports that their officers have taken so far have mostly been from the neighborhood behind Hope High School and the neighborhood near the softball fields on 16th Street. If anyone in those areas have security video footage of any suspicious vehicles or persons please contact Detective Casey Singleton at (870)722-2561 or Lieutenant Jimmy Courtney at (870)722-2560. Finally, if anyone has noticed that their vehicle(s) were broken into recently but have not filed a police report they are asking that you contact the Hope Police Department non-emergency line, (870)777-3434, to file a report with an officer, even if there was no property taken, or what was taken was not of significant value.
