Horatio Woman Faces Felony Charge After Alleged EMT Assault

A Horatio woman is facing a felony battery charge after authorities allege she struck an emergency medical technician while being treated following a crash early Wednesday morning.

According to the arrest affidavit, Linda Nicole Robinson, 38, is charged with second-degree battery, a Class D felony, as well as first-offense DWI and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

The charges stem from a single-vehicle crash shortly after 1 a.m. Aug. 12th near Chapel Hill and Red Bud roads. Authorities said Robinson was driving a Kia Sportage that left the roadway, struck a fence and came to rest in a pond.

An ambulance was called after Robinson complained of neck pain. It was reported that she became unruly while being treated, stood up, approached an EMT and struck him in the face with an open hand.

Robinson was taken into custody and transported to the Sevier County Jail. Authorities said she showed signs of impairment during field sobriety testing and later refused a blood-alcohol test.

She was charged with second-degree battery, DWI and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

The charges are allegations, and Robinson is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
