Horatio Woman Set for January Trial in Sexual Assault Case Involving Teenager

A Horatio woman accused of sexually assaulting a teenage boy at an Ashdown business earlier this year is scheduled to stand trial in January 2027.

Alexandra Vaught, 35, faces one count of second-degree sexual assault in Little River County Circuit Court.

According to court records, Vaught appeared before the court Oct. 6 for a pretrial hearing, where she was granted a continuance. A new pretrial hearing has been scheduled for Jan. 12, 2027, and jury selection and trial proceedings are currently set to begin the week of Jan. 25.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Vaught allegedly sexually assaulted a teenage boy over whom she held a position of trust or authority. Investigators further allege the victim was provided alcohol before the alleged assaults occurred.

The alleged incidents reportedly took place at a property along U.S. Highway 71 South in Ashdown.

Following Vaught’s arrest, the property owner filed a separate civil complaint seeking her eviction. The complaint cited alleged criminal activity on the property and unpaid rent and requested a $10,000 judgment.

Vaught was previously released from custody after posting a $5,000 bond.

Under Arkansas law, second-degree sexual assault is a Class B felony punishable by five to 20 years in prison, a fine of up to $15,000, or both.

Vaught is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
