Hornets Hold Off Bulldogs in High-Scoring Thriller

In a nail-biting clash on Friday night, the Mineral Springs Hornets triumphed over the Quitman Bulldogs with a final score of 54-49, showcasing a rollercoaster of momentum shifts and dazzling plays.

The game kicked off with an early surge from the Hornets. After tightend Javeon Fricks scored a touchdown, the Hornets successfully converted a two-point attempt, establishing an 8-0 lead. The Bulldogs quickly responded with a stunning 79-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, narrowing the score to 6-8.

Hornets’ Running Back Malik Matthews then struck back, scoring another touchdown with a successful two-point conversion, pushing the lead to 16-6. Quitman wasn’t done yet; they answered with a touchdown and an extra point, making it a tight 13-16 game.

In a thrilling finish, Quitman recovered a kickoff and quickly scored, closing the gap to 41-48. The Hornets remained relentless, with Matthews dashing into the end zone for another score, increasing their lead to 54-41. With time running out, the Bulldogs made one last effort and found the end zone, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Hornets’ lead.
