House fire damages home on Howard Street

A kitchen fire caused extensive damage to a residence Monday night in Nashville.  Fire Chief Justin Thornton said units were sent to 321 West Howard Street just after 9:30 p.m.  An occupant of the residence told firemen he was cooking, and left the items unattended.  After the fire was discovered, it was already too large for the individual to extinguish.  Firemen were able to contain the fire to the kitchen area, where major damage occurred.  The rest of the home also had smoke damage.

In addition to units from Nashville, the Center Point Volunteer Fire Department also responded to provide mutual aid.
