Howard County Court

Howard County Court opened the case of 30 YO Shane House of New Hope. House has a warrant out for his arrest and is facing the following charges. 1st a misdemeanor for Driving While Intoxicated, 2nd a class C felony for Battery – 2nd Degree via Motor Vehicle, and 3rd a class B Felony for Negligent Homicide with a vehicle while intoxicated. The Facts Constituting Reasonable Cause are as follows: On November 14th, 2020 at approximately 8:37pm Shane House was traveling on Hwy 84 westbound with 2 passengers towards the Hwy 278 intersection in Umpire. Upon reaching that intersection House failed to stop driving off the road striking the embankment. When first responders arrived, House advised them that the operator of the vehicle had fled the scene. When State Police arrived, House claimed to have been sitting in the right rear passenger seat. First responders removed an injured passenger from the front-passenger seat while Deputy Coroner Roddey Smith pronounced the passenger in the right-rear seat deceased. According to the police report the left-rear passenger seat had many items stacked on it and had no room for a fourth passenger. Investigators later obtained a blood swab from the driver’s seat and after obtaining a warrant for a DNA swab from House concluded the comparison to be a match within all scientific certainty. Again the current action taken in this case has been the issuance of an arrest warrant for Shane House of New Hope.
