Record Rainfall in August

A new rainfall record was established this year for the city of Nashville in August. 11.45 inches of rain was recorded last month, making it the highest total ever recorded for August. The previous record was over 10 inches. Last month had 13 days with measurable rain. The largest amount in a 24 hour period being 4.9 inches.
A state rainfall record for August was also set in the region. A gauge at Big Fork in Polk County recorded 19.70 inches, which the most ever seen in the month.
