Law Enforcement Seizes 12 Pounds of Methamphetamine in Hempstead County Bust

A joint law enforcement operation has led to the seizure of approximately 12 pounds of methamphetamine and the arrest of two individuals in Hempstead County.

According to police records, that on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, the 8th North Drug Task Force, along with the 8th South Drug Task Force, 9th West Drug Task Force, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), executed a search warrant at a residence in Hope. The operation was part of an ongoing investigation into suspected methamphetamine distribution in the area.

During the search, officers reportedly recovered around 12 pounds of methamphetamine, valued at an estimated $40,000. Prince Thomas, 44, of Hope, was arrested on charges of Methamphetamine trafficking, while David Bentley, 60, of Nashville, was arrested for Conspiracy to Commit Trafficking.

“The success of this operation is a direct result of the collaboration between local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies,” said Gary Dorman, Director of the 8th North Drug Task Force. “The distribution of methamphetamine continues to be a serious threat to our communities, and we remain committed to holding traffickers accountable.”

Both Thomas and Bentley are currently being held at the Hempstead County Detention Center, awaiting their first court appearance.
