Howard County Historical Society Hosting “Hometown Christmas” Open House on Dec. 1

The Howard County Historical Society is kicking off the holiday season with its “Hometown Christmas” Open House on today. Festivities will run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Families are invited to visit multiple sites just one block off the Main Street parade route, including the Lyons Complex — the former City Hall and Fire Station — located at 115 W. Sypert. Children can meet Santa Claus and get an up-close look at the fire trucks.

Guests can also tour the E.A. Williams Chapel Museum at 200 W. Hempstead, where new exhibits will be on display. The Historical Society will offer refreshments, arts and crafts for kids, and a festive atmosphere for all ages.

Adding to the celebration, Mark Keith and the Bluegrass Reunion will provide live entertainment throughout the evening.

The event is free and open to the public, offering a warm, hometown kickoff to the Christmas season.
