NFD responds to vehicle fire Wednesday afternoon

Nashville firemen responded to a pair of calls Wednesday afternoon. Units responded to a call of a fire out of control in a pasture on Chapel Hill Road East. Wednesday evening, units were also dispatched to 307 Ansley Street for a call that initially began as a vehicle fire. Chief Justin Thornton said the vehicle was parked near the residence, which resulted in the fire spreading to the home’s exterior wall and attic. According to Thornton, the fire began as a result of a fuel leak on the vehicle. The owner reported he was walking with a crescent wrench in his hand, when fell, causing the wrench to hit the ground and creating a spark that ignited the fire. The property owner reportedly sustained minor burns to his hand and arm. He was transported by Pafford EMS for treatment at Howard Memorial Hospital.
