On October 6th Chief Deputy for the Howard County Sheriff’s Office, Joey Davis was advised that Young, who was employed by the county as a Jailer, had contacted the Howard County Jail to inform them he tested positive for COVID-19. Administration for the jail forwarded a letter to Chief Deputy Davis from Dr. Lansdell’s clinic signed by a medical provider named Sam Nix. Davis contacted the phone number listed for the clinic and was informed that all Lansdell Clinics have been closed.
Sheriff Bryan McJunkins then contacted Young asking him to come to the Sheriff’s Department to speak. Upon arriving Young was informed of his Miranda rights after which he stated he decided to call into work that morning. In doing so he was required to present a doctor’s note so he Googled information on the Lansdell Clinic and created his own. Young then stated he did not have any COVID symptoms.
