Howard County Quorum Court
The Howard County Quorum Court conducted its regular October meeting yesterday. With very few items on the agenda, j.p.’s delayed acceptance of a low bid on repairing lights & other technology at the local airport. Last month, the court approved spending the money. A motion & second was made to accept the low bid of 18 thousand 887 dollars. During discussion, it was brought to the attention of county officials that the quorum court & city of Nashville had entered into a lease agreement in May 1997 that made the airport a jointly operated facility between the county & city. The agreement called for seven board members to be appointed, with the county judge & mayor of Nashville appointing three members each. The seventh member was to be mutually appointed.
Yesterday’s motion was withdrawn, to give county officials an opportunity to look into the status of that 1997 agreement.
In other business, Clear Energy representative Josh Myers was at yesterday’s meeting to answer questions regarding plans to spend federal covid related funds on refurbishing the existing portion of the old hospital building into office & storage space. There was little discussion on the matter.
