Howard County Preparing For Absentee Voting

There is expected to be an increased number of absentee ballots cast during the general election in early November due to the threat of COVID-19.

Howard County Clerk Keri Teague said county residents may begin calling her office at the courthouse. The absentee voting process begins with citizens contacting the clerk’s office to request an absentee ballot. Once the request has been made, the application form will be mailed from the clerk’s office. The person requesting the ballot will then need to complete the application process and return the document, by mail, back to the courthouse. Teague said October 9th is the date when her office can begin sending out the absentee ballots.

The election will be held November 3rd. Teague said early voting will begin October 19th.

Anyone not yet registered to vote has until October 5th in order to be qualified to cast a ballot in the November general election.

To request an absentee ballot, Howard County residents need to contact the clerk’s office at 845-7502.
