Howard County Quorum Court Approves Financial Motions and Budget Amendment in October Meeting

The Howard County Quorum Court convened for their regular monthly session yesterday, addressing several financial items and approving a key amendment to the county’s 2025 budget.

Treasurer Sheri Mixon began by requesting approval to close an account at People’s Bank in Magnolia, which contained a remaining balance of $0.97. After brief discussion, the Justices of the Peace approved the motion to officially close the account.

Mixon also reported that sales tax revenues were in line with expectations, and interest had been added to the county’s contingency fund. The court approved the financial report as presented.

Justice of the Peace Kerry Strasner inquired about funding for the Department of Prosecuting Attorney Jana Bradford. County Judge Brent Pinkerton responded, confirming that Howard, Sevier, Pike, and Little River Counties had all agreed to pay their respective shares of the requested amount for the department’s operations.

In other business, the court unanimously approved Ordinance 2025-11, an ordinance amending the 2025 Howard County Operating Budget Ordinance. The ordinance included detailed adjustments to specific line items and allocations, reflecting updated financial needs across various departments.
