Howard County Quorum Court Approves Key Motions During Monthly Meeting

The Howard County Quorum Court held their regular monthly meeting yesterday with all members present, except for Justices of the Peace Don Marks and Andy Hogg. During the session, several important motions were approved.

The Quorum Court reappointed Dr. Carla Pumphrey and HMH Board Member Tem Gunter for another three-year term. In addition, a motion was passed to approve a service agreement for the Farmers Market, with a one-time payment of $1,500 allocated to the Market.

Howard County Clerk Keri Teague provided an update on an issue concerning W2 forms. Teague explained that in August 2024, the county received notification from the IRS about more than 200 W2s for the year 2022 that had been sent by paper instead of electronically. However, Teague clarified that only 150 W2s were actually sent, and as long as the total was under 200, paper submissions were acceptable at that time. As a result of the error, the county was fined $27,000.

Teague emphasized that the county is working on a solution to ensure the county is reimbursed the $27,000 related to the issue.
