Howard County Quorum Court Approves Records Grant Application

The Howard County Quorum Court held its regular monthly meeting Monday, where members heard from County Circuit Clerk and Recorder Angela Lewis about a grant application that could help expand the county’s automated records system.

Lewis explained what the system would allow her office to do and how the grant could help make county records more accessible and easier to manage.

Lewis also discussed the cost of scanning and indexing records into the system, explaining how the process is priced on a per-book basis.

She said the county has previously received grant funding for the records system, which has allowed her office to upgrade some of its equipment.

Lewis said the records currently available through the system date back to 1959. If the county receives the new grant, she hopes to expand the digitized records even further, potentially going back to 1924.

Lewis said expanding the system would allow the county to preserve more of its historical records while making them easier to access in the future.

In conclusion, the Howard County Quorum Court unanimously approved a motion to move forward with the grant application.
