Yesterday the Howard County Quorum Court held their regular monthly meeting.
Justices of the Peace approved a resolution that was in regards to a service agreement with the Fire Department. This was to help the Howard County Chief Association and to get the communication back on track along with a better radio system.
Justices of the Peace also approved another resolution for Howard County Judge Brent Pinkerton to apply for a grant through the Southwest Planning Development in Magnolia for the Umpire Fire Department to purchase a Hanker Truck. The current model they have right now is a 1989 model. Pinkerton stated that the county isn’t responsible for funding but in order for the grant process to go smoothly it must go through the County. Judge Pinkerton also provided an update on the Hanger Project that will take place at the airport and right now they are in the process of accepting bids. Last year Howard County received a state grant at an estimated amount of $500,000 dollars. The quorum voted in a previous meeting to contribute $197,000 dollars towards the project.
