Howard County Quorum Court Tables Mineral Springs School Board Appointment
The Howard County Quorum Court held their regular monthly meeting yesterday, with much of the discussion focused on a vacant seat on the Mineral Springs School Board.
Justices of the Peace heard from Mineral Springs School Superintendent JonDavid Amerson, who spoke on behalf of the school board, as well as Britany Rosenbum, who is interested in filling the Zone 4 seat.
Rosenbum told the quorum she followed the required guidelines for seeking consideration, including obtaining signatures and submitting a letter to the school district.
She also addressed the Mineral Springs School Board during its August meeting regarding the Zone 4 position, which has been vacant since May 2025.
During her remarks, Rosenbum said she wants to help strengthen relationships within the district, support students and the school system, and promote transparency. She also emphasized the importance of being willing to listen and providing representation for residents in her area.
Following Rosenbum’s presentation to the school board, the board did not take action that night.
Rosenbum was previously hired as a Mineral Springs School Resource Officer in September 2022. She told the quorum that her contract was not renewed.
Superintendent JonDavid Amerson then addressed the quorum regarding the school board’s decision not to recommend Rosenbum for the vacant position. He also discussed who the school board is considering to fill the seat previously held by Mike Erwin.
Because the Zone 4 seat has remained vacant for more than 90 days, the decision on who will serve the remainder of the term falls to the Howard County Quorum Court.
After further discussion, the quorum approved a motion to table the appointment.
Justices of the Peace agreed to hear from both Mary Clemmons and Britany Rosenbum at next month’s regular quorum court meeting before making a decision on who will fill the Mineral Springs School Board’s Zone 4 seat.
No appointment was made during yesterday’s meeting.
