Howard County Sheriff’s Department upgrading camera system
The Howard County Sheriff’s Department and Jail facility is in need of a video camera system upgrade. Sheriff Bryan McJunkins was given approval Monday to seek bids on the project, which is likely to cost in the neighborhood of $50,000 dollars. He told the Howard County Quorum Court the current system has been in place for 15 to 20 years. A new system would provide an improved coverage area, along with better quality images and additional storage capacity. The sheriff said the current system is starting to fail in some spots.
The new system would provide both exterior and interior coverage for all areas of the building.
McJunkins said he will report back to j.p.’s once the bidding process has wrapped up.
