Howard County Voters to Decide on Re-Purposing Sales Tax in May 13 Election

Howard County Judge Brent Pinkerton spoke to the Nashville Rotary Club last Wednesday about the sale tax initiative that will be on the ballot in Howard County during the School Election on Tuesday, May 13. He said early voting will begin on Monday, May 5th through Monday, May 12th at the Carter Day Center in Nashville. Election Day polls will be open at the Carter Day Center in Nashville and the Dierks Community Building.
Pinkerton stated residents approved this tax in 2006 or 2007 to construct a new hospital. He said that bond will be paid off later this year and the Howard County Quorum Court is asking the residents of Howard County to pass this initiative to re-purpose the tax.

Pinkerton discussed about how much the tax will generate and how much each county entity will receive.

Pinkerton also discussed what the county’s portion of the funds would be used for throughout the county.

Nashville Mayor Larry Dunaway stated the city of Nashville and all of the towns in Howard County would be able to finance projects that they need funding to complete.
