Howard Memorial Board Approves NP Appointment, New Equipment and Announces After-Hours Clinic Opening

The Howard Memorial Hospital Board of Directors met last week for their regular monthly meeting, approving a provider appointment, capital equipment purchases and reviewing January financials.
During the meeting, Dr. Carla Pumphrey presented the appointment of Amy Davis as Nurse Practitioner for the hospital’s After-Hours Clinic. The appointment had previously been approved by medical staff, and the board unanimously confirmed Davis in the role.
Chief Financial Officer Bill Craig reported that January operations were impacted by the month’s ice storm. Surgical cases totaled 98 compared to 115 budgeted cases. However, Emergency Department visits exceeded expectations, totaling 773 — 98 visits above budget.
Craig also noted several positive financial indicators. Operating costs were $282,334 below budget. Salaries, benefits and contract labor were $130,656 under budget, while other expenses came in $8,431 below budget. Additionally, $114,728 in stimulus/ARPA funds were recorded on the income statement to support the hospital’s 2026 capital budget. Productivity, full-time equivalents, total operating costs and net income from LHC Home Health were also reported in the green for January and year-to-date.
In other business, the board approved capital budget requests for new equipment. The Radiology Department will purchase a Hologic Selenia Dimensions 3-D Mammography machine totaling $338,850, while the Surgery Department was approved to purchase a GE Venue Fit Ultrasound machine totaling $30,000.
Marketing Director Sandy Webb also announced the opening of the HMH After-Hours Clinic, located at 132 Medical Circle in the Specialty Clinic on the hospital campus. The clinic will be staffed by Amy Davis and will treat non-life-threatening medical conditions. Hours of operation will be Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Hospital officials say the new After-Hours Clinic reflects Howard Memorial’s continued commitment to expanding access to convenient, high-quality healthcare for Nashville and the surrounding communities.
