Howard Memorial Hospital Board Reviews July Financial Report

The Howard Memorial Hospital Board of Directors held their regular monthly meeting Tuesday, with board members reviewing hospital finances and other business.
During the meeting, board members Dr. Glenn Lance, DDS, and Wes Howard renewed their terms on the Board of Directors for another three years.
The Board also heard a financial report from Chief Financial Officer Bill Craig, who provided an update on the hospital’s July 2026 financial performance.
Craig reported that hospital cash receipts for July totaled $2,836,001, exceeding the hospital’s monthly goal of $2.2 million.
Collectible revenue from patient services was $71,095 above budget for the month. Emergency Department visits totaled 811, which was 136 visits above budget. The hospital also recorded 2,619 outpatient visits during July.
On the expense side, July 2026 operating costs were reported at $16,233 below budget. Salaries, benefits and contract labor were $48,069 below budget, while employee health insurance costs were running $90,110 below budget.
Craig also reported that Howard Memorial Hospital received $166,000 in reinsurance payments during July.
Overall, the July report showed the hospital exceeding its monthly cash-receipt goal while several key operating expenses remained below budget.
