Howard Memorial Hospital Welcomes New Chief Nursing Officer

Howard Memorial Hospital (HMH) welcomed Paula Mitchell as its new Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) on July 18, 2022. As CNO, Mitchell will manage Emergency Services, Patient Care Unit, Surgical Services/Outpatient Services, Medical Clinics, Trauma Program and Wound Care, along with providing policy recommendations to the hospital’s leadership team.

Prior to joining HMH, Mitchell served in a variety of managerial roles for various healthcare organizations, including as Senior Director of Critical Care Services at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, LA, ER Manager and Assistant Director of Emergency Services at Northern Louisiana Medical Center in Ruston, La. She was also an associate professor of nursing at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston for nearly 10 years.

In 2018, Mitchell earned her doctorate in Nursing Administration and Education from William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Miss., and is certified in several advanced practice procedures, including Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), among others.
