It’s Ag Week

This week is being celebrated as Agriculture week in Arkansas. The state ranks in the top ten nationally for production of rice, broilers, catfish, turkey, sweet potatoes, chicken eggs, cotton lint and cottonseed. Arkansas is also 6th nationally in forestry products, with over 44 million tons of forestry and timber products. Those items alone are valued at more than $6 billion dollars.
Statewide, there are more than 42,000 farms and ranches in Arkansas that covers 14 million acres. Every county in the state has some type of agricultural operation.
