Lead Sales Associate Accused of Stealing Over $2,200 from Mineral Springs Dollar General
A lead sales associate at the Dollar General in Mineral Springs is under investigation after store officials reported more than $2,200 in cash missing from multiple deposits.
According to the affidavit, that at approximately 4:30 p.m. on March 20th, 2025, Officer Alex Gamble of the Mineral Springs Police Department responded to a call at the Dollar General located at 204 East Runnels Street regarding a possible internal theft.
Store management had flagged a suspicious cash shortage of $850 from March 5th. Upon review of security footage, investigators say lead sales associate 35 year old Dannael McCray of Mineral Springs was seen removing cash, placing it into her right hand, and then slipping it into her right jacket sleeve.
Further investigation revealed additional shortages — $400 on March 13th 2025 and $1,023 on March 18th, 2025. In both cases, surveillance reportedly showed McCray processing the day’s cash deposits while appearing to manipulate large bills, at times watching herself on the CCTV monitor.
Footage also showed McCray turning off the office lights after her shift and returning in the dark to retrieve what appeared to be her phone — along with papers believed to be concealing missing cash.
It was also reported that video evidence and a review log documenting McCray’s movements and handling of deposits on all three days were turned over to law enforcement. A scheduled interview with McCray was arranged by store officials, but she failed to appear for her shift.
The total amount reported stolen is $2,273.00.
The case remains under investigation by local authorities. No formal charges have been announced at this time.
