Legacy Academy defeats Columbia Christian

It was an exciting night of basketball Monday night in Lockesburg, where the Legacy Academy Warriors and Lady Warriors hosted Columbia Christian of Magnolia.

The teams split games with the visitors winning both Junior High games and Lockesburg’s Warriors winnng the two Senior High games.

Legacy Senior Boys clinched the victory 51-50, with a buzzer-beater shot by Sophomore Ethan Gallagher. Freshman Zane Minton put 25 points on the board for the Warriors, while Gallagher scored 18. It was a rough start for the home team after the Magnolia team jumped out to an initial 18 point lead. Gallagher secured 20 rebounds for the home team, while Nathan Cox grabbed 7. Lucas Carter was the high scorer for Columbia Christian with 19 points.

Sophomore Dori Bartek led the Lady Warriors with 22 points, while Junior Gracie Tucker registered 14 points for the home team. Grace Tucker rebounded the ball ten times and offered 5 assists, while Trinity Cox secured 7 rebounds. The Lady Warriors delivered a 41-37 victory for the home crowd. Lily Carter led the Lady Crusaders with 17 points.

The home team’s junior high boys lost to the Magnolia team 34-30 in a nailbiter, after battling back from a 12-0 deficit to start the game. Zane Minton and Makade Bivins both secured 7 points for the Junior Warriors, while Eli Hamilton led rebounds with 5. L. Burley put up the most points for the visitors with 19.

CCS’s junior girls defeated the home team 37-21. Oaklee Lofton led the home team with 16 points; while Lily Carter scored 20 for the Magnolia club.
