Legacy Boys win Junior & Senior Games against Magnolia team
Lockesburg, ARK—Legacy Academy Warriors’ junior and senior boys teams faced off against Columbia Christian Crusaders from Magnolia on Friday night at Warrior gym in Lockesburg. The junior boys won a nailbiter 30-29. The home team held a 20-12 lead at half-time, due primarily to a strong start in the first quarter outscoring the visitors 11-5. The Columbia county team held Legacy to 1 point in the third quarter, while scoring 10 themselves. The battle came down to the 4th quarter where the junior boys from Lockesburg fought hard for a victorious finish. Luke Burley scored 15 for the Crusaders, while the Warriors spread around the points with Ozzy Tolendano, Manolo Vazquez, Malachi Davis, Joshua Tucker, and Everette Martz all making 5+ points. Eli Mitchell grabbed 6 rebounds for the team, while Malachi Davis secured 5.
The Warriors defeated the Magnolia team 44-34 in senior boys action. The Warriors ended the first quarter with a 12-8 lead, while the teams each scored 10 in the second quarter of play. The Lockesburg team led 22-18 at the half. Legacy expanded their lead in the second half scoring another 22 points to the visitor’s 16. This secured the Warriors’ 10 point victory. Ethan Gallagher led the team with 30 points, followed by DJ Morris with 10. Morris also led the team with 7 assist, while Gallagher secured 12 rebounds for the Lockesburg team. Gallagher also had 6 steals. The Warriors finish their opening week, 2-0 and will be back on the court next Tuesday night when all four teams host home games in Lockesburg with Cornerstone Christian.
