Legacy Loses Single Possession Games to Eagletown
- Legacy Academy’s senior teams hosted Eagletown in basketball action Friday night. Both games were hard fought games with excellent effort by all the athletes from both schools. Legacy’s Lady Warriors lost 55-54 against the Lady Eagles, while Legacy’s Warriors fell 82-80 against their McCurtain County rivals.
In Senior Boys’ action the Warriors led the first hall going into halftime with a 40-33 lead. The Eagles brought a strong fourth quarter with impressive inside work by #35 Gunner Farley. In the end it proved just enough to eek out a 2 point victory over the Lockesburg team. Ethan Gallagher gave the Warriors an exceptional 46 points, including 4 made baskets from behind the arc. Gallagher also had 7 rebounds, as did Eli Mitchell, followed by 5 from Layne Schroer. Mitchell gave the Warriors 23 points and took three charges. Manolo Vazquez contributed 8 points, while Ozzy Toledano gave 3.
In the senior girls’ game the two teams evenly paced each other the first period with the Lady Eagles up 16-13 going into the second quarter. The McCurtain County girls went on a run outscoring the Lady Warriors 15-6 in the second period. This provided the Eagletown girls a comfortable 31-19 lead at the half. Legacy’s girls’ must have had an impressive pep talk at half time as they came out strong in the 3rd period outscoring the Lady Eagles 16-14 in the third and an impressive 19-10 in the 4th. Even this second half rally wasn’t enough as they fell 55-54 in the end. Both teams hustled and played hard.
Senior Dori Bartek had 17 points for the Lady Warriors and 9 rebounds. Oaklee Lofton scored 15 and gave 7 rebounds. Mercy Hagler led the team in rebound with 12 boards and 9 points. Lilly Tucker, Libby Bartek, and Skyler Alexander provided 6, 5, and 2 points respectively. Maddie Lowrey provided the team 7 rebounds and three critical steals.
Both of Legacy’s senior high teams are back in action with a road trip to Battiest, Oklahoma on Tuesday evening.
