Legacy Splits Games with Hot Spring’s CMA

LOCKESBURG, ARK— Legacy Academy split games with Hot Springs’s Christian Ministries Academy Friday night in Lockesburg. The schools’ junior girls, junior boys, senior girls, and senior boys all battled on the court. In Senior boys’ action, the Warriors proved determined to fight until the end but fell short against the Conquerors. . Legacy had a strong offensive game but struggled defensively against CMA all night. The Warriors were outscored 19-11 in the first quarter and found themselves down 40-24 at halftime. Outscored again in the third quarter, the home team was down by 27 at at their greatest deficit in the game. After a never-quit fight fourth quarter, they ultimately fell short by 8 with a final score of 80-72. Ethan Gallagher scored 36, had 10 rebounds and 6 assists. DJ Morris powered to the rim contributing 25 points and 8 rebounds. CMA’s Aiden Carmona scored an impressive 44 points for the Hot Springs team. Failing to stop his drives to the basket caused the Warriors the most trouble all night. Legacy’s 4th quarter rally was impressive but simply wasn’t enough to get the win. They’ve played a tough schedule thus far this season and stand at 7-6 record.
The Lady Warriors fell short tonight 37-27 in the senior girls’ game. After being outscored 14-4 in the first quarter and being down 24-7 at halftime, the Lockesburg team outscored CMA’s girls 20-13 in the second half. It was a valiant effort but was too little too late for the Lady Warriors. Grace Tucker scored 10 while Hannah Mae Morris added 7 points to the board. Dori Bartek followed with 5. Trinity Cox had an impressive 14 rebounds for the Lockesburg team. Justice Cole and Katie Davis gave the visitors 14 and 12 points respectively.
Junior games were played prior to the senior high action. Manolo Vasquez scored 13 for the Legacy’s junior boys, while Layne Schroer gave the team ten points. Eli Mitchell had 8 rebounds, followed by 5 rebounds each for Schroer, Ozzy Tolendano, and Everrette Martz. The Warriors were defeated at three point line tonight when CMA’s Nolan Bradshaw put up 24 points—18 of them from 3 pointers. Gavin Hicks gave CMA 16 points. Legacy’s junior boys came up short giving them a 7-3 record for the season.
In junior girl action, the Lady Warriors grabbed a 29-12 win tonight over the Hot Springs team. Lilly Tucker scored 9, while Oaklee Lofton and Hannah Mae Morris both gave 8 points to the home team’s total. Skylar Alexander grabbed 11 rebounds, while Jesse Martz secured 8 for the Lockesburg girls.
Legacy goes on the road next Tuesday to Texarkana to challenge Trinity Christian and again next Friday night at home against Gospel Light for Legacy Academy’s homecoming games.
