Legacy Trounces Texarkana’s Trinity

Legacy Academy hosted a 1A match up at home Tuesday night verses Texarkana’s Trinity Christian. Legacy pleased the home crowd by sweeping all three games. Both senior teams and junior boys took to the court for games. In Senior High action, Legacy trounced Trinity 88-57.
The home team won every quarter of the game but had their biggest challenge in the first period. Legacy outscored Trinity 18-15 in the first period, but stretched their lead out every period thereafter. At the half the Lockesburg club went to the locker room ahead by 13 with a score of 46-33. Legacy outscored in the second half 42-24. This effort gave Legacy’s Warriors a 88-57 victory. Senior Ethan Gallagher broke a personal and school record by scoring 54 points, including four 3 pointers. With 17 rebounds, he secured a double-double. Sophomore Layne Schroer played strong on the inside getting his own double-double with 17 points for Legacy and an impressive 24 rebounds. Manolo Vazquez contributed another 14 points to the home team, while Ozzy Toledano put in the defensive work taking two charges for the Warriors. Seth Gurdlach led Trinity with 18 points, followed by Marley Franklin with 13. The win makes Legacy’s senior boys 18-3 for the season. 
In senior girl play, Lockesburg’s Lady Warriors eked out a 48-44 win over the Texarkana team. A tight ball game all night saw Legacy’s ladies ahead 21-17 at the half. This four point lead mattered as it was the margin of victory after both teams scored 27 in the second part of the game. Oaklee Lofton led the home team with 20 points, followed by 16 from Dori Bartek. Mercy Hagler had 6 points for the Lady Warriors, while Lilly Tucker and Skylar Alexander had 4 and 2 respectively. Trinity’s #25, Dougan led their team with 18 points, followed by #21 Purtle with 10. 
In junior boys play, Legacy won the opener 59-20. Legacy outscored Trinity 24-16 in the first half and held the visitors to 4 points the entire second half. Manolo Vazquez gave the Warriors 34 of their points, followed by 12 from Silas Lofton and 9 from Jude Gallagher. Giovannie Suarez and Justise Burton each contributed 2. Eli Wall led Trinity with 12 points. 
All four of Legacy’s teams play on Friday night as the school hosts conference opponent CMA. The junior girls have th first game and tip off at 4pm.
