Legacy Warriors Clip Eagletown on the Road

Legacy Academy’s senior basketball teams made the short trip across the state line into Oklahoma to take on the Eagletown Eagles and Lady Eagles. The school split games with Eagletown winning the girls’ game and Legacy winning the boys’ game. 
In Senior boys play, the game was fast paced and physical. The Warriors put points on the board first to open the night with a three pointer by #14, Sophomore Joshua Tucker. The Warriors led 25-20 at the end of the first period. The second period was evenly matched with Eagletown outscoring Legacy 19-17. Legacy led at the half 42-39. The Eagles had their best quarter in the third period out scoring the Warriors 21-17, but found themselves in foul trouble and started sending Legacy to the free throw line in the fourth. The game was tight most of the fourth period until the Lockesburg team pulled ahead outscoring the home team 24-17. The Warriors secured victory with a final score of 83-76, making their record 7-0 for the season. 
Senior #22 Ethan Gallagher led the Warriors with 32 points, seven rebounds, and six steals. Manolo Vazquez, #10 provide 19 points and 10 rebounds to grabbing a double-double for the night. Freshman Eli Mitchell, #11, gave the team 15 points and six rebounds. Sophomore, #14, Joshua Tucker provide the Lockesburg team 9 points, 5 boards, and 2 steals. Gallagher and Mitchell each took a charge in the game, as well. #23 Braden Polk was the top scorer for the Eagles with 20 points. The Warriors hope to slay the Genoa Central Dragons from Texarkana Tuesday night at 530pm at home in Lockesburg. Home fans will receive free admission as part of the team’s celebration of Thanksgiving.

In girls’ action the Lady Eagles outscored the Lady Warriors all four periods of the game. The Eagletown team dominated in the paint and picked up most of their points inside the block under the basket. The Lady Warriors only outperformed the home team at the free throw line. Sophomore, #10, Oaklee Lofton led scoring with 22 points for the Lady Warriors. Dori Bartek and Maddie Lowrey each had 7 rebounds for the ladies from Lockesburg. #16 Megan Price led scoring for Eagletown with 16 points, followed by 15 from #30 Jaiden Lane. The Lady Eagles defeated the Lady Warriors 57-35.
